2020 Association Assessments
Correction on the 2020 WBC Assessments
Dear Westside at Buttercup Creek Members:
Please accept our apologies for the error and confusion related to the 2020 annual assessment. This is to notify you of a change in your assessment for 2020. The new assessment rate will be $360 for 2020.
In September, the Board voted that a 10% increase was appropriate to address rising costs and not run at a deficit for 2020. We believed this decision was permissible in keeping with the terms of the original Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Westside at Buttercup Creek (1994). However, it was recently brought to our attention that there was a 1997 amendment to the Declaration. This 1997 amendment lowered the yearly assessment increase cap from 10% to 6%. As a result, the Board is adopting a new budget and lowering the assessment increase to 6%.
Again, we apologize for the need to rework the 2020 assessment amount. The 6% assessment increase cap means the Association will run a deficit for 2020 and likely result in an additional increase in 2021.
Please see the attached letter with information on the new assessment and how to pay or receive a credit if you paid early.
Thank you,
Jim Smitherman
